Telefonica - OIBDA at 5,893 millions euros in Q4

Telefonica announced today revenues of 14,804 millions euros for its fourth quarter in 2008, OIBDA of 5,893 millions, Operating income of 3,650 millions and net profit of 1,916 millions. For full year 2008, the spanish telecom company published revenues of 57,946 millions euros, OIBDA of 22,919 millions, Operating Income of 13,873 millions and net profit of 7,592 millions.

According to ZoneFinance consensus, based on 8 contributions, the markets were expecting revenues of 14,624 millions in Q4 (57,793 millions for Full Year), OIBDA of 5,520 millions (22,566 millions) Operating income of 3,160 millions (13,357 millions) and net profit of 1,686 millions (7,325 millions).

Alcatel Lucent - Q4 net loss of 3,892 millions euros

Alcatel Lucent publishes today a net loss of 3,892 millions euros for the Q4 2008 period versus a loss of 48 millions. Adjusted net result was 1,321 millions. Revenues declined to 4,954 millions versus 5,234 millions, the Gross Margin rate was 33.3% versus 32,4% and the operating result was 156 millions (adjusted 297 millions). For Full Year 2008, the Telecom Equipment supplier publishes revenues of 16,984 millions versus 17,792 millions, Gross Margin rate of 34.1% versus 33.5%, operating loss of 56 millions (adjusted 466 millions) and net loss of 5,215 millions (adjusted 1,597 millions). 

According to ZoneFinance Consensus for the fourth quarter, based on 10 contributions, analysts were expecting revenues of 4,888 millions (median 4,886 millions), Gross Margin rate of 33.4% (median 33.3%), adjusted operating result of 251 millions (median 269 millions) and net result of 162 millions (median 195 millions).
